Fencing, Trellising and Plant Support

Gardens are more than just the living parts.

Good looking gardens don’t just consist of beautiful plants, shrubs, and trees.

The inanimate objects can bring just as much life to your garden. That’s why we construct  fencing and trellising. Either to add structure & privacy to your garden on their own or to support the plants and climbers in the garden.

Fencing

Fencing is not only important as a final touch to complete that professional-looking garden. It importantly provides privacy and security and does both these things at a price that doesn’t break the bank.

Types of Fencing

We work with two key types of fencing styles.

Panel fencing works well  in gardens with   level ground and can usually be a slightly cheaper option. If you prefer something sure to survive any condition, or, live on a hill or slope; close board fencing is what we use as it can follow the contours of the ground.

Since CCA preservatives  were banned in 2008,  softwood fenceposts can last as little as 5 years as they rot at the junction where the post enters the earth.

To combat this, at the very least, bituminous sleeves are melted onto the post extending just above ground level. A more permanent solution is to fit concrete repair spurs next to the post when constructing the fence or using Jacksons fencing,  which is guaranteed for 25 years. Oak posts which have natural durability or concrete posts which are virtually indestructible but are not very aesthetically pleasing.

We can a repair fences with concrete repair spurs when the posts have rotted, but the fence itself is still serviceable.

Climbing Plant Support

Fences don’t only work to keep things out. We also can construct Trellises.

Trellis can help to increase a fence height whilst allowing more light through and  can support climbing plants such as Jasmine , wisteria or clematis.

We know how the climbers you choose actually climb, either by twining as a jasmine or Wisteria  does, twining their stems around supports  or a clematis  which twine their leaf petiole around appropriately sized support structures.

Trellis & the supports  for these plants are essential for them to  grow and flower properly

We not only use the highest quality & strongest trellis; galvanised wires, straining bolts and vine eyes can  to be used to:-

  • Support climbers  & climbing roses on fences without trellis.
  • Enable climbers to reach the trellis.
  • Enable wisteria & roses to grow up brick walls/houses.

This will create a rigid set up that will provide long lasting support to assist the climbers.
